Aukati KaiPaipa Smoking Cessation Practitioners

Aukati KaiPaipa is a Smoking Cessation Programme that offers free support and advice for those wanting or needing to give up smoking. The programme offers Maori and their whanau an opportunity to address their smoking behaviour through a range of valued support.

  • Individual assessments
  • Encouragement
  • Motivational coaching
  • Lifestyle Advice
  • Fitness and Nutrition (Te Hotu Manawa Maori Training)
  • Education awareness and preparation to quit
  • Free nicotine replacement therapy (nicotine patches and gum)
  • Support groups
  • An eight week kanohi ki te kanohi /one on one programme followed by three month, six month, nine month and twelve month follow ups

While the programme is focused towards Maori it caters to people of all ethnic backgrounds. The service is delivered kanohi ki te kanohi/ face to face by our Quit Coaches who have an understanding of the challenges smokers face when giving up smoking.

Regular one-on-one and group consultations with participants who join the programme are important aspects in helping to overcome barriers to quit as well as maintenance to stay smokefree by participants.

Our vision is to see Maori living healthier Smokefree lifestyles in the Waikato and to see our Whanau, Hapu and Iwi thriving, nurturing and maintaining healthier lifestyle habits for our future generations.

Our programme is delivered and accessible in Hamilton and the greater Waikato including Te Awamutu, Morinsville, Raglan and Waharoa.
