Support Worker – Mental Health Residential Service (Kaiawhina)

About Us

Te Rūnanga o Kirikiriroa is a kaupapa Māori organisation based on a whānau first, tikanga based, wellbeing approach. Our organisation works to a model of care centred around our pou (guiding principles) of manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, arohatanga, rangatiratanga, tika and pono. We deliver 30+ health and social services across the life span (i.e., from infants to the elderly) and have a team of over 100 people working across Hamilton city and beyond.

About the Role

We have a position available for a Kaiawhina Casual Support Worker within our Ngā Whare Tūhono, Mental Health Residential Service. Ngā Whare Tūhono is a 22-bed facility supporting whanaunga over an extended period with the aim to transition our whanuanga towards semi to fully independent living.  

 Positions available 

  • 2 x 1 year fixed term, full time, 12 hour shift, rostered 4 days on, 4 days off shift rotation, Monday-Sunday 
  • From $25.50 per hour dependent on qualifications and experience, aligning with pay equity                                   

We are seeking Kaiawhina Casual Support Worker – Mental Health Residentials who

  • Has a positive and supportive mindset in supporting our whanaunga to achieve their goals and aspirations
  • Demonstrates patience and calm by working alongside and at the pace of our whanaunga
  • Works to a holistic approach to wellbeing
  • Understands and actively demonstrates our pou
  • Uses appropriate language and communication skills (e.g., tone, active listening) to fully understand the needs of the whanaunga
  • Has a reasonable level of computer literacy to complete case notes and other electronic documents e.g., emails

You will have   

  • 1-3 years working in a kaupapa Māori environment
  • 1-3 years support work experience
  • A basic understanding of te ao Māori principles e.g., te reo and tikanga, and a willingness to learn more in this area
  • A level 4 qualification in mental health and addiction or higher, te reo Māori, tikanga Māori or be prepared to study towards one or more of these qualifications
  • Evidence of being fully vaccinated and boosted against Covid-19
  • Full drivers licence
  • Proof of your right to work in New Zealand

Salary/HOURLY RATE:
Between $60, 060.00 - $67,704.00 dependent on qualifications and experience, aligning with pay equity
